I recall how excited I was when I discovered apps for automating activities on my smartphone. For example, I could have programmed them to play a specific piece of music whenever I passed Tesco. Of course, this is an extreme example, and the practical application focused on, for example, creating profiles: home, work, night, and so on.

It was possible to disable data transfer when the phone was within range of the home Wi-Fi network, according to these applications. While in town, you could disable Wi-Fi. Almost anything could be turned off while you slept. Because you don’t use the Internet or Bluetooth in any case, and you don’t get notifications. Is this, however, a benefit?

No, in my opinion. Such taming of the device’s capabilities entails making life miserable in exchange for marginal savings. The best results are obtained when the screen brightness is kept to a minimum. What fun is it to continue staring into the darkness from the native power-saving mode? I’m not interested. As a result, there will be no discernible energy savings in the battery.

In an emergency, how do you recharge the battery?
